Our Name
Glen:
- Reflects the rolling terrain of south Charlotte and western Union county, NC.
Stone:
- Reflects the two ideas in our mission statement of honor and courage.
- Honor - Stones honor God. Throughout Scripture, God's people piled up stones to honor God and to remember His activity in history: Jacob after his dream of the stairway between earth and heaven, and Joshua after he crossed the Jordan River. Jesus is the Cornerstone and His followers are living stones - both bring honor to God.
- Courage - Stones reflect courage. The story of David vs. Goliath tells us that David expressed his courage by choosing stones rather than the conventional armor of king Saul. The five smooth stones from the brook were unique expressions of David's story and how he personally demonstrated his confidence in God.
Chapel:
- The place where God's people meet. The "church" is the people. The "chapel" is the gathering place.
Glenstone Chapel:
- Where people meet to honor God and find courage to follow Him.
